We will also visit the Sphinx as well as the ancient sites at Memphis and Sakkara. Lunch is included and will be arranged at a local restaurant. In the late afternoon we will return to our hotel, the Mena House.
The Mena House is the most historic hotel in Egypt. Most of Europe’s celebrities have stayed there at some time including King George V, Queen Mary, Prince of Wales and Churchill. Day 3
After breakfast we will be transferred to the airport and take a short flight to Luxor half way up the navigable Nile. It holds the greatest density of important archaeological sites in the world. After check-in and lunch, we will depart with our private Egyptologist and visit the Karnak Temple. In the evening we will enjoy a spectacular light show at Luxor Temple.
The city was built over the centuries and dedicated to the God Amon-Ra, his consort, and their son Khonsu. Resting on the east bank of the infamous Nile River in southern Egypt, the city of Luxor is renowned for its many well-preserved monuments, so much so that it has been described as the world’s greatest open-air museum. Luxor is often divided into three different areas; the city of Luxor on the east side of the Nile, the town of Karnak further north and Thebes on the west side of the Nile, across from Luxor.
Luxor holds the world famous Karnak and Luxor Temples, as well as the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens, the great burial grounds of Egypt’s pharaohs.
We will stay for three nights at the luxurious Mercure Luxor Karnak Hotel right on the banks of the Nile.Overnight Mercure Luxor Karnak Hotel B
